CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA – Apple has introduced a redesigned Mac mini, now powered by the new M4 and M4 Pro chips, offering a big boost in performance within an even smaller 5×5-inch design. The M4 chip delivers up to 1.8 times faster CPU and 2.2 times faster GPU speeds than the M1 model, while the M4 Pro is built for even more demanding tasks. The latest Mac mini also improves connectivity, featuring front and back ports and, for the first time, Thunderbolt 5 on the M4 Pro model for quicker data transfer. Additionally, this model is the first carbon-neutral Mac, achieving over 80% reduction in greenhouse emissions through materials, manufacturing, and user efficiency. Starting at $599 with 16GB of memory, pre-orders are open, with availability beginning on November 8.

Compact and Powerful
The new Mac mini has a smaller 5×5-inch design—half the size of its predecessor—making it a great fit for tight spaces. Apple silicon’s efficiency and an innovative cooling system that vents from the base allow for this ultra-compact build. Despite its small size, it outperforms similarly priced desktops, delivering up to six times the speed in a fraction of the space.

Equipped with a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and 16GB of unified memory, the M4-powered Mac mini is a versatile choice for users from students to creatives and small business owners. It handles everything from multitasking to creative tasks like video editing, music production, and coding with impressive ease.

The Mac mini with M4 outperforms the Intel Core i7 model significantly, allowing users to apply up to 2.8 times more audio effect plugins in Logic Pro, achieve 13.3 times faster gaming performance in World of Warcraft: The War Within, and enhance photos with 33 times faster image upscaling in Photomator. Compared to the M1 model, the M4 also performs spreadsheet calculations 1.7 times faster in Microsoft Excel and transcribes speech up to twice as fast in MacWhisper.

For users seeking professional performance, the Mac mini with M4 Pro offers the fastest CPU core, with up to 14 cores and exceptional multithreaded performance. It has a GPU that is twice as powerful as the M4, enabling hardware-accelerated ray tracing. The Neural Engine in the M4 Pro is over three times faster than that in the M1, facilitating rapid on-device AI processing. Supporting up to 64GB of unified memory and 273GB/s memory bandwidth, the M4 Pro enhances AI workloads and includes Thunderbolt 5 for data transfer speeds up to 120 Gb/s.

When compared to the Intel Core i7, the M4 Pro performs spreadsheet calculations up to four times faster, executes scene-edit detection in Adobe Premiere Pro nearly 9.4 times faster, and transcribes speech up to 20 times faster. Against the M2 Pro, it applies 1.8 times more audio effect plugins, renders motion graphics in Motion up to twice as fast, and completes 3D renders in Blender 2.9 times faster.
