Users Sue Facebook

Five Facbook users from the United States is sue Facebook, a social networking site, for doing what it’s supposed to do.  A social networking site is a web service that lets users share a piece of their lives on the web to their friends, family or the public.

A lawsuit from the five Facebook users was filed Monday at a Southern California court and accuses Facebook that it is doing a data-mining operations and does not deliver to its promises of giving users strict control over their uploaded content such as pictures and other personal information.

One of the plaintiffs is a woman who joined Facebook while it was in its early stages when membership is limited to college students or staff.

Facebook was originally developed by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004 as a way for his college friends to remain connected.

The suit states that Facebook has betrayed its users by evolving into a giant social networking site that is available to millions of users around the globe.

Other plaintiffs are young boys that says Facebook should not allow users aged 13 and below to join and post images or other content in Facebook.  There’s really no way of determining whether the user who is signing up is really 13 years old or older.

I don’t think this case is going anywhere and maybe just a way to milk some money from Facebook although the suit did not specify the monetary claim.  Facebook also announced and promised a legal battle with this case.
