Nokia N900 Announced
Nokia has announced that the Nokia Maemo is a phone and not a tablet. It’s the N900. The Nokia N900 will run the Maemo Linux OS and has 3.5 inch screen.
The 3.5 inch screen is a WVGA resistive display. The phone also comes with a slide-out full QWERTY keypad. It’s powered by an ARM Cortex 8 processor with 256MB of RAM (contrary to the previous reports that it’s 1GB). The internal memory is 32GB and still comes with MicroSD slot for expansion.
GPS and FM Radio Tuner and Transmitter also comes built-in with the app. It has a 5 megapixel camera and a 3.5mm audio jack.
It’s OS, Maemo, is based on Debian linux. Because of that, the phone will ship with Firefox and flash support.
Maemo is is new in phones but it looks pretty interesting. I, myself, is pretty excited to get my hands on one of these phones. Again with the question, will it be available here in the Philippines anytime soon? I don’t think so.
Overall, I think Nokia has made a great move with this new model making the N97 looks like a piece of junk. I bet the price of the N97 will drop once this new one hits the shelves.
The phone is estimated to cost € 500 or around $700.
