Nokia Announced Booklet 3G

nokia-booklet-3g-20090824-600Nokia announced a new addition to their line of products, the Nokia Booklet 3G, a mini laptop or netbook or sorts.

According to Nokia, the new laptop will be a windows-based machine and runs on Intel Atom processor.  Also, they say that the battery of their new notebook will last for 12 hours.  A pretty good battery rating for a notebook.

The notebook comes with 10.1 inch High Definition display.  It also has a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port for High Definition (HD) video out.  The enclosure is made of aluminum and it’s only 2cm thin and about a kilogram heavy.

An assisted-GPS (A-GPS) with Ovi maps also comes with the package.  Also a webcam, bluetooth and SD card reader comes built-in to the system.

Of course it’s 3G/HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) capable, thus the name Booklet 3G.

Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices, Kai Oistamo, summed it up simply as follows:

“A growing number of people want the computing power of a PC with the full benefits of mobility. We are in the business of connecting people and the Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us. Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premium design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quite compelling. In doing so we will make the personal computer more social, more helpful and more personal.”

That’s just a piece of the pie.  Nokia will unveil more of this new notebook in the Nokia World ’09 on September 2.  We’ll know the price and where it will be available after that.
