Windows 7 Released to OEMs
Microsoft announced that their Windows 7 Operating System is now ready for shipping to Original Equipment Manufacturers or OEMs. This allows time for OEMs to build hardware specially designed for the new operating system.
Microsoft Windows 7 will make its public debut on October 22 of this year. This is going to be the 7th major release of Microsoft Windows OS thus its name. Windows 7 is meant to kill Vista. Why? Vista wasn’t able to cope up with its promises and Microsoft is releasing Windows 7 to fix all the issues Vista had.
Personally, I think Windows 7 is a lot better than Vista. The user interface or UI is better and easier to use and it’s not as resource-hog as Windows Vista.
Windows 7 will be available in 6 different editions but only Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate will be available in most countries.
Windows 7 Hardware Requirements:
- At least 1 GHz Processor both for 32 and 64 bit editions (x86 and x64)
- 1GB of Random Access Memory (RAM) for 32 bit and 2 GB for 64 bit.
- Graphics Card that supports DirectX 9 with at least 128MB of graphics memory
- 16GB HD Free space for 32 bit and 20GB for 64 bit
- DVD-R/RW drive for installation of the OS
The Release to Manufacturer (RTM) build of Windows 7 is 7600.
