The number of cellphone using Filipinos continues to grow, with more than two-thirds of the population now using cellular phones according to a GMA News report. mobile phone penetration rate now stands at about 69 percent, with 62.4 million subscribers registered with the country’s three major mobile firms, and with the government’s assumption of a 90.57 million population this year.

But wait, Cellphone using Filipinos doesnt necessary mean VAS (Value Added Services) using Filipinos =)

As of end-June, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) which runs the Smart and Talk ‘N Text brands reported a 33.2-million subscriber base, while Globe Telecom, Inc.’s Globe Handyphone and Touch Mobile had 22.7 million subscribers. Digital Telecommunications Philippines, Inc.’s Sun Cellular has 6.5 million users.
