Improving copra production of farmers via Technology

The Visayan Daily Star writes: “A new technology called “Kukum Hot Air Dryer” that will reportedly improve the quality of copra will soon be adopted in Negros Oriental, through the Bacong Small Coconut Farmers Development Cooperative.

The technology is under the Technical Related Trade Assistance of the National Economic Development Authority and the European Union.”

“The dryer was developed to improve the quality of copra and palm oil products of the country. With the technology, fresh copra will not be dried directly under fire, but only through hot air.

In this process the dried copra produced will appear white and clean, unlike that processed through the traditional method where the copra turns deep brown.

BASCOFADCO general manager Valeriana Rocas said they use the dryer for demonstration facility of the farmers, who are interested in adopting the technology.

Rocas added that the Kukom gives clean and white dried copra but the process is also very tedious and needs ample time.

Don Bosco has organized and established an agro-mechanical training Center at Legazpi, Albay province.
The center is in hilly area and coconut area.
As a training center we have to spread good and efficient technology.
May I ask for more info and illustrations, possibly design, of KUKUM COPRA DRYER as explained above.
We would appreciate it very much a favorable answer directly to our e-mai: .
    Thank you.

thank you i’ve got an additional information about techniques on producing white copra but i would like to add that there is another method i think that can produce white copra also it’s the “coco-pugon” it’s not applying direct heat under the copra rather it’s like an oven dried in simplicity……no smoke, no dark brown copra but pure whit copra only.
